Very satisfied! September 4, 2009 K. Wheeler (Raleigh, NC USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I like to sit out on my screened in porch on Fridays and work. I enjoy listening to music and the wildlife. I had a set of Acoustic Research wireless speakers (900MHz) and they kept losing signal and cutting out all the time, pretty anoying. I tried this unit because of the different transmitter frequency range and other reviews. The speaker is about 35' from the transmitter and through walls. So far I've been out for about 4 hrs and not once has it cut out. I like the dual inputs on the transmitter, I can plug the Sony Video Walkman into the minijack and I have the stereo output plugged into the RCA jacks on the rear.
Pros:
- Sound quality is pretty good, not Bose, but not $$$$.
- Looks nice and easy to move around. The blue "mood" light is kind of neat for outdoors.
- No interference with other wireless things. We have 3 computers running wireless and have not experienced a blip with this unit running. Also cordless phone runs at 5.8GHz, so not a problem
- Bass is better than the ARs I replaced.
- Like the remote to control volume without having to get up to turn down volume as with the ARs.
- No issues with volume increase/decrease (except for variations album to album). Wish these things had a way to control those variations.
- It will play stereo, but you have to buy two complete units, wish they sold additional speaker separately. Right now sounds OK, so not sure I'll make the investment.
Cons:
- Like the other reviewers, it could use a little more volume range. Not bad for porch, but not for loud partying.
- Doesn't come as a stereo system.
very happy with this speaker July 8, 2010 Jay Blackburn 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this speaker to replace a couple of Sharper Image speakers that I have had for a long time and that bit the dust. I have to say that this one speaker works as well as the two speakers I used to have. It is amazing how much sound comes out of one speaker. I use the speaker out at my pool/patio and don't even have to turn it up all the way for it to cover the whole patio.
I almost returned this speaker and then realized I set it up wrong. Every time I turned it up, the sound would go in and out with a popping sound. I read a previous review where someone experienced the same thing. I finally realized that I used the power adapter from my old speakers by accident. Using the proper adapter fixed everything. I mention this since other people have experienced this same problem. You may want to check your power if this happens to you. Your outlet could be bad or you may be using a power strip that is bad.
I would recommend this speaker and may buy another one for my other patio.
Worked as descibed. October 4, 2009 Carl M. Shride 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Worked as descibed. I use it as a back up speaker for my TV, sits by my chair so I do not have the TV turned up so loud.
Awesome sound! May 31, 2010 C. Ferrante (Peoria, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this so much I have another one on the way! Works great and sounds great! The price is a bit much but if you hunt around you can find it for just under a hundred!
Very Cool!!! June 9, 2010 Laughing Gravy (Rowlett,Texas) If you need an outdoor or remote speaker, this is the one! Hooks up easily and sounds good. You can pretty much connect it to anything that has some sort of output jack, ie:headphones, RCA, mp3,etc. It took 2 minutes to hook up, and the outdoor speaker PLUGS INTO THE WALL so you don't have to worry about battery life. (but it also runs on batteries if need be.) Has a remote that control volume and on/off (and the mood lighting--oooooohh!)Buy THIS one, REALLY!
